The DeWitt County Republican Party is an official arm of the  Republican Party of Texas and operates
according to
Texas Election Code governing political parties and under the Rules of the Republican
Party of Texas.

The County Chairman, a Treasurer, and the Precinct Chairmen make up the Executive Committee.
Only the Executive Committee can vote on Party matters that are set forth in the Texas Election Code
and rules of the Republican Party of Texas.  The County Chairman and Precinct Chairman are elected
every two years in the Republican General Primary.

The Election Judges and Alternates for the Republican Primary are appointed by the Executive
Committee.  Election Judges, Alternate Judges and Election Clerks are the backbone of our free and
fair electoral process.

Together, the Executive Committee, Election Personnel, and concerned Republican citizens work
toward the goal of promoting a conservative philosophy of government which attempts to preserve
the principles set forth by the U. S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  We support local, state, and
national candidates who promote this philosophy.

A County Convention is convened following the Primary/Runoff Elections in even-numbered years.
Delegates and Alternates are nominated and elected at the County Convention to attend the State
Convention which is held in June (following the County Convention). Development of the Party
Platform begins at the local county convention.

Candidates for public office are expected to use the Party Platform as a guide for public policy and
legislative efforts. You can learn more about what Texas Republicans believe by reviewing the Party's
web site.
