Jay Condie for DeWitt County Judge:
My name is Jay Condie and I am a candidate for DeWitt County Judge. I am 49 years old, was born in
Dallas, graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont and received my Law Degree from Baylor Law
School. I worked and use student loans to get myself through college and law school. I have two sons.
Andrew, 25, is returning to school and is pursuing his Masters Degree at Texas State University. Zac, 19,
is a junior chemistry major at Baylor University.
My experience makes me the most qualified candidate to serve as a judge in the DeWitt County Court
of Law. Many people don't realize that the position of DeWitt County Judge actually involves the operation
of a court of law much like State District Court. The DeWitt County Court handles misdemeanor criminal
cases (DWI, theft, drug cases, assaults, weapon charges, DWLS, hot checks, etc.), probate cases, civil
suits involving up to $10,000 in dispute, juvenile law violators, mental health commitments and appeals
from certain courts among other things. My experience, including that as a juvenile, misdemeanor and
felony prosecutor, has prepared me to handle the complex legal issues that face the DeWitt County Judge.
Another reason I seek your vote for DeWitt County Judge is that my legal background would be of
benefit in the day-to-day operations of DeWitt County and in Commissioner’s Court with the issues it
addresses. I have practiced in the areas of real estate, banking, contracts, insurance, bankruptcy,
litigation, employment, corporate, probate, criminal and family law and I am licensed to practice in all
Texas Courts including the Texas Supreme Court.
I am both fiscally conservative and fiscally responsible. As County Judge I will be active in the
representation, development and promotion of all of DeWitt County. I will work well with the
Commissioners and start planning today for tomorrow. As DeWitt County Court Judge I will bring a level of
dignity and respect to the DeWitt County Court of Law equal to that recognized at the District Court level.
