What the local Party does...
The local Republican Party is charged with the constitutional responsibility of organizing and
conducting a Party Primary Election every two years. We solicit applications for precinct and
county-wide elected office and precinct level chairman as well as the county chairman every two
years.

County chairmen submit the names of county residents to the commissioner's court to serve as
Election Judges in the General Elections and Constitutional Elections. County chairmen and
precinct chairman can assist candidates in conducting campaign activities and developing
centers-of-influence in the community.
Potential Candidates...
If you are interested in running for an elected office in DeWitt County, we can help you evaluate
your potential success using historical election results and voter data.

Filing fees can be as high as $750 for a county-wide office. Signatures of registered voters on a
petition can save a candidate the filing fee expense and show grassroots support for his/her
candidacy.

The filing period for the 2010 General Primary ended on January 4, 2010.

If you are interested in running for elected office, contact the
County Chairman.
